Situated in the Forbes Shire, but within an easy drive to the Bland, Weddin and Lachlan Shires, there is no shortage of things to see and do. Forbes itself has plenty to offer visitors. The newly renovated Visitor Information Centre houses a popular cafe. Take a walk around the lake, stopping for a coffee at the gorgeous Oh So Sugar. Motor enthusiasts will find the Forbes Motor Museum a real treat. The CBD has a wide variety of local businesses ranging from homewares, men’s and women’s fashion and accessories, books and a number of excellent cafes. Those keen for a day trip could enjoy a drive to Condobolin following the marvelous Sculpture Down the Lachlan trail or visit the historic village of Grenfell, Henry Lawson's birthplace. There, the stunning scenery and bushwalks of the Weddin Mountains are within close proximity.

 

A unique educational experience awaits at Lake Cowal Conservation Centre, and if you are heading further west, stop at Weethalle and peruse the silo murals. Further along the Newell Highway to the north is the CSIRO - Parkes Observatory with The Dish, and made famous by the iconic Australian movie of 2000.
